How To Keep Your Healthy Diet Whilst Away

When it comes to going on holiday, or travelling abroad and you’re on a diet, it can be really hard to stick to it. With the tempting buffets of taste-bud tempting desserts that all-inclusive resorts tend to offer, and the numerous rich local dishes that are often calorie fuelled for the perfect taste, keeping to your healthy diet can be tough. If you’re travelling to Europe, it is important to bring an e111 health insurance card with you, so if you are to fall ill while you’re away, or you’re in need of essential medical care before you go home, then you’ll be covered for free or reduced cost medical care if you’re an EU citizen. Switching quickly from a healthy diet to rich foods can cause you to fall ill at times, so we’ve put together a list of the ways that you can keep to your healthy diet whilst away.

Learn About Local Cuisine

If you’re really keen on keeping your healthy diet intact while you’re on holiday, then you might want to learn about the local cuisine that is likely to be served to you while you’re away. If you’re in an all-inclusive, you’re going to get a huge range of dishes, from fish – which should be included in anyone’s diet for their healthy omega 3 fats, to classic chips which are found all over the world. If you’re away you should be prepared to know what you should and shouldn’t be eating. Most restaurants will include the calorie counts in their menus so you should be able to keep a good track on food there. If you end up learning about local cuisine before you go you will be able to work out what cuisine you should eat to keep your healthy diet while you’re away.

Eat Plenty Of Fruit

Fruit is often in abundance in almost any country that you visit, whether that’s in Europe, Asia, America or another continent. There’s plenty of different fruits to choose from in these countries and most are often full of antioxidants and vitamins to help keep you healthy. There’s also a good range of fruit that will help to fill you up, without you having to indulge in non-healthy options. Fruit is very versatile too, in terms the fact that you can eat it for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert.

Eat Healthy & Exercise

One way to keep to your diet healthy is to also include exercise along with healthy eating.  This doesn’t have to be too strenuous, but it will help you to burn off any calories that you do consume while you’re away, when that little dessert was just a little bit too tempting. When you’re away, you can jump in the pool and do a few laps in between meals to keep healthy, or go on walking tours so you can experience the country you are in while still getting in the exercise that you need to keep to your healthy diet while you’re away.
